Good to know

What is the NYT Spelling Bee?

A daily word game from The New York Times. You get seven letters arranged in a honeycomb and make as many words as you can - four letters minimum, and every word must use the center letter.

When are the answers posted?

A new puzzle lands at 3 a.m. ET - the bee is an early riser. We publish the letters, the pangram, and the full word list for every puzzle each morning.

How does scoring work?

Four-letter words earn 1 point, longer words earn a point per letter, and a pangram adds a 7-point bonus. Reach 70% of the total and the game crowns you Genius.

What exactly is a pangram?

A word that uses all seven letters at least once. Every puzzle has at least one, and it is always the best-paying word of the day.
